Job Vacancies

Programme Manager

The Gisborne YMCA is the leading provider in recreation programmes for the Gisborne/Tairawhiti region. The Programme Manager will be part of a dynamic mangement team that is responsible for the development, promotion and leadership of YMCA programmes in its community. This exciting opportunity is based at the Gisborne YMCA on Childers Road with programme delivery sites ranging from Whatatutu to Tokomaru Bay.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer,  you will work with a crew of Team Leaders and Coordinators who are responsible for the day to day operations of the programmes with particular focus on the following key responsibilities;
1) Implementation of strategies and initiatives within the YMCA Strategic Plan and Recreation Department Operational Plan
2) Implementation of programmes and initiatives particularly for children and young people.
3) Work with the requirements of funders on the implementation of initiatives as part of the requirements stipulated.
4) Provide support for the organisation initiatives, activities and implementation of new and innovative programmes.
5) Assist in the implementation of the programmes.
6) Deliver education workshops and training courses.
7) Provide advice and support to stakeholders and participate in events aimed at increasing participation in YMCA programmes or initiatives.
8) Improve YMCA capability by providing support / facilitating the operation of the programmes in theGisborne/Tairawhiti region.
9) Assist in the marketing and promotion of YMCA programmes and initiatives.
10) Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with stakeholders and potential clients.
11) Work internally and externally to build an effective communication network within the YMCA community.
12) Share information across the organization

After School, Before School, Holiday and Cam p Programmes (OSCAR)
Stadium leagues/hireage, Y-Sports Community Project, Y's Gym Pre-school Programme, Y's Birthday Party events
Youth leadership programme, Youth 4 Youth Community Project

Holiday Programme Volunteers

Our Youth & Outdoors staff is looking for volunteers to help with school holiday programmes. We provide the training, excitement and fun. You need to be responsible, reliable and caring. It's a great chance to gain work experience working with kids and also to meet other volunteers.

If you are interested in seeing if volunteering at the YMCA is right for you, and you have the skills that are required for the programme then please phone Alexia (Holiday Programme) or Matt Smith (Youth 4 Youth) at 867 9259.   Working as a volunteer can be rewarding and gives you the opportunity to gain some skills for future employment, or if you are retired and wish to meet friends in a warm, caring environment then look at joining the YMCA as a volunteer.
