Stadium

The Y Sports Team is supervised by an experienced and qualified staff member, Shirley Kemp,  who has had over twenty years experience in sports and schools in the Gisborne/Tairawhiti region.   The Y-Sports Team works closely with the regional sports organisations and specific sport development officers to ensure the correct alignment of the YMCA's sessions and can also provide additional information and support on a request basis.

Originally invented in 1891 in YMCA Massachusetts by Dr James Naismith, basketball has grown into one of the highest participated sports. Our stadium is regularly used to host basketball and home games for the Rising Suns Basketball Team.
