The Y Gisborne is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, including supporting their overall health and wellbeing. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all contractors, volunteers, and visitors within our workplace.

The Y Gisborne operates a range of services across several sites in Gisborne. We recognise our responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 to proactively manage and minimise health and safety risks, and to ensure the well-being of all persons who work or engage with us in any capacity.

Our goal is to foster a safety culture where hazards are identified, risks are assessed and controlled, and everyone understands and fulfils their health and safety responsibilities.

We expect everyone to:

• Be responsible about managing their health and safety and comply with The Y Health and Safety Policy.
• Be involved in the workplace health and safety process.
• Stick to the correct procedures and use all equipment safely.
• Wear PPE as and when required.
• Report all hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses promptly to the managers or staff.
• Ensure new employees are inducted into the workplace Health and Safety procedures.
• Keep all work and recreational areas tidy to minimise trips, slips, and falls.
